How the Check Engine Light Works

The check engine light is your Volvo's way of telling you that something is wrong. Inside your vehicle is a computer system that is connected to sensors on different parts of your vehicle. If a component stops working properly, a sensor will detect this and send an alert to your vehicle's computer system, turning on the check engine light.

As soon as you see that light turn on, don't panic! Give our friendly staff a call to schedule an appointment. Before you get to our auto repair shop serving Santa Rosa, be sure to take a mental note of any strange symptoms that you may have been experiencing before or after the check engine light turned on, if any. This will better help our experts figure out where the issue could be stemming from.

If the light is illuminated and does not flash, we'll schedule you for an appointment. If the light is flashing, immediately stop driving the vehicle, and call us to get it towed in.
